Furnishing your first apartment is not only exciting but also a bit of a challenging task. What to look at and how to make the whole interior look perfect?
Think about functionality
Furnishing your first apartment probably follows buying and finishing (in the case of an apartment from the primary market) or refreshing (in the case of an apartment from the secondary market). It's definitely an expensive task, so we are aware, that your budget might be tight.
Thus, try to look at functionality first. Your first choice should be the 1 that you need the most: bed, kitchen furniture, functional wardrobes, etc. Don't forget about some chairs and sofas to sit on and also pick a good-looking table, so that you have enough space to eat on it.
What's your budget?
When we're talking about money, you definitely should consider, how much you can spend on the furniture and divide it between all the interiors. This way you will know - even more or less - what amount of money you can spend on a single room. It will be helpful when picking all kinds of modern furniture for your home.
Dining room
There are sayings stating, that the dining room and the table in it is the hear of a home. There is a lot of truth in that statement, as sometimes it's literally the only place family members meet during the day in weekdays. That's why you should choose a big, comfortable table, that will fit all the household members and a set of cozy chairs to sit on.
Remember, that comfort doesn't have to give way to great looks. When choosing the table and chairs, try to fit it into the general idea of your apartment's decor. For example, if you decide to go into Scandinavian style, pick a a simple wooden table, without any decorative elements, and comfortable chairs, also made of wood, in similar colors. Hokers might be a great choice for your kitchenette if you have a kitchen island in it.
How to make a living room look great?
In the living room, you can't forget about a space to rest for all household members. Luckily, almost all of the Scandinavian design sofas perfectly respond to such needs, Just make sure, that there is enough space for all your family members and check, whether it looks comfortable.
Some people also place wardrobes and all types of storage furniture and it might be a good idea, especially if you have a lot of belongings and the space in your apartment is limited. However, if you don't need a lot of space to store the things you own, don't take up space unnecessarily with furniture.
What about the bedroom?
Bedroom should be the place, where you feel at peace and can rest well - both during the day and at night. If you sleep alone, a single bed should be enough - unless you like to have a lot of room. For couples - a bigger bed is a better option, with a minimum of 160x200 cm. There are also some smaller beds, but if the size of the bedroom allows - 160 cm is a better choice.
Above all while furnishing your first apartment, try to find a balance between listening to other people's advice (and those will come for sure, no matter if you ask or not!) and your own preferences. Don't be afraid to risk a little!
