Confederation Bridge connects Prince Edward Island and the Canadian province of New Brunswick, located on the mainland. Open May 31, 1997, it immediately became the longest bridge in the world, erected over the crust of water ice.
Reaches a length of thirteen kilometers (including driveways), the Confederation Bridge is composed of forty-four spans, two hundred and fifty meters each, and rests on two pillars sixty.
