To overcome ignorance and release yourself from the ego, try to apply these three spiritual practices.
Humility
No matter how much knowledge we gain, just remember that the universe is infinite. We must allow ourselves to be humiliated by this realization. Only when we are willing to admit that we should not and can not know everything, we can open our hearts to our Self that knows and can kathodigisei us to Truth.
Through the practices that will help us to eliminate the ego we become more able to act on the part of the Higher Self and not through an individual outlook.
Introspection
Incorporate a disciplined process of self-reflection in your daily life to help you stay cautious with the physical, emotional and mental habits. With careful observation you will begin to see the ways that ignorance or lack of clarity begins to shift within.
Loyalty
To demand the uprooting of the strong connection that keeps the nature of the ego, we must dedicate ourselves with reverence to what is higher and greater than ourselves. Even though we can not understand what this is, we can recognize the difference between the ego / self and the self that is the light within us. Meditation is a great way to get in contact with the "Essence of Self" and to connect with the universal consciousness in order to live more fully.
With humility, introspection and dedication our inner vision will be clarified and will begin to identify with our true selves. Transcending the avidya will feel more peace in us. Experiencing the humble recognition of non-knowledge of all things will not feel any intensity or stimulation, but rather an inertia from which we will be able to consciously choose whether to speak, will do or not.
